In the present times when internet has brought the world together, students need to learn beyond textbooks. This is because they are living in a global society which is well connected and is a fine blend of cultures. Today, students need to learn gain global citizenship skills so that they can understand and connect with the world better. Here’s how schools are preparing students for the future.
How Schools Are Making Students Future Ready on a Global Level?
Schools have understood the importance of making students ready to face the world and are therefore teaching them with a global perspective. Let’s read how we teach at Rawat Education Group, our students about global citizenship.
1. Teaching the Meaning of Global Citizenship
Being a global citizen is about having a mindset in that way and is not about nationality. We ensure that our students understand the world is interconnected. We teach them to respect cultural diversity and human rights around the globe. It is our responsibility to make children empathetic towards others who live around us.
2. Encouraging Cultural Awareness
One of the ways of making a student ready to face the outside world is by making them culturally aware about the diversity that exists. Today, classrooms have students from different cultures, speaking various languages, and following their respective traditions. We at school encourage cultural awareness through cultural events, exchange of stories, and exposure to international arts.
3. Including Global Issues into the Curriculum
Students learn best about future when we teach them by using global themes in everyday lessons. We include different topics such as climate change, sustainability, human rights, health concerns, technology, and international economics. This help students in broadening their thinking and understanding what it is to be a global citizen.
4. Encouraging Critical Thinking
We organize group discussions where students learn to question, answer and think critically on the given topic. We encourage project-based learning, debates, and research conduction so that students can explore, and find, and create something new. We focus on teaching them problem-solving, reasoning, questioning, and how to critically evaluate information.

Digital literacy is important in the present era when internet is used across the globe. We teach our students to be become responsible digital citizen by using internet safely and ethically. We teach them to recognize fake news, protect personal information, identify online abusers, avoid harassment, and all about cyber safety. When a student is digitally literate, he can join and contribute to the global conversations in a positive manner.
7. Familiarizing with Environmental Responsibility
It is important that students are well aware of the environment around them and their responsibility towards maintaining it. We turn our students into global citizens by teaching them sustainable practices. We have eco clubs, conduct planting drives, teach about energy /water conservation, and encourage them to participate in global campaigns. Once student learn to care about their environment, they are likely to become responsible adults.
8. Promoting Community Service
We teach our students the importance of community service as this is how they learn to communicate, work, and help others. Starting local familiarizes and teaches them the importance of serving others. We encourage our students to help people at shelters, organize donation camps, teach young children, volunteer for social causes, and participate in social campaigns.
9. Offering Global Exchange Programs
We organize international exchange programs where we let our students learn, explore, and interact with students at global level. We also encourage virtual collaborations, and partnerships with global schools to get exposure and share learnings. Our programs help students in getting global perspective which is necessary for their growth.
